Fern Creek Co.

Fern Creek Co. is a local independent artisan woodworking shop located on the shore of Sproat Lake on Vancouver Island, British Columbia. They make high-quality, affordable and original items for the West Coast home. As each piece they create is inspired by their geographical location and its surroundings, Fern Creek Co. wanted to produce a brand that feels carefully handcrafted and which emanates Sproat Lake’s calmness and ability to create connection and intimacy.

From brand identity development to lifestyle and product photography, I worked with the client to create a brand that portrays lifestyle and emotion as much as it promotes products. We worked to highlight their product quality, while also making room for the quality of beauty in imperfection, a value expressed by the client. We accomplished this by following a content-first approach and by visually expressing these values via an illustrative and organic route. This not only lends to the style of their products and is inspired by their location, but it also has deep significance to the shop and its primary artisan herself.
